Case Studies 3. - Hungarian and East European Animation Market

Hungary was one of the very first countries started animation production in the beginning of the 20th century. This was soon followed by others from Central- and Eastern-Europe after the 2nd World War the communist and the socialist government heavily supported film making industry including animation. Thanks to this during the last half century very strong animation industry with several talents, strong schools and lots of production have been developed in the region.
When the political system changed in the early 90s the film-industry fell apart, but the tradition and the roots remained strong in the cultural life. In the last decade a new generation started to grow up influenced by these traditions and they are becoming more and more important in the European animation and other countries try to help them too.
